Alaska Division of Elections welcomes new employees June 9, 2025 Ryan M. Wilson is taking over for the recently retired Lauri Wilson in the Juneau Region 1 Office. He brings a strong background in education and public outreach. Ryan earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Nevada, Reno, and an M.S. in Natural Resource Management from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Before joining the Division of Elections, Ryan held several positions, including Civil Rights Program Manager for the Federal Highway Administration, Natural Resource Manager for Alaska’s Department of Natural Resources, Local Government Specialist for the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, and Coastal Resource Officer for the United States Peace Corps in a rural fishing village in the Philippines. Language Assistance Program Manager Lea Ann Lyday has a robust background in child welfare and education. Most recently, she served as a Trainer for the Alaska Child Welfare Academy, where she provided statewide training to Tribal partners and Office of Children’s Services (OCS) staff. Prior to this role, she spent five years as a Protective Services Specialist, where she supported families and promoted child safety through collaborative and culturally informed casework. Additionally, Lea Ann has several years of experience in classroom teaching and curriculum development in both Alaska and Texas. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in History and has completed graduate coursework in secondary education and adult education. The Wasilla office of the Division of Elections is excited to welcome Alexia Bayer-Snyder as its Regional Associate Supervisor. With a background in banking spanning over three years, Alexia has honed her skills in connecting with people and understanding their needs, which will be invaluable in her new role. Beyond her professional endeavors, Alexia cherishes quality time with her family and friends, often embarking on outdoor adventures such as hiking through the Alaskan landscapes, camping, or planning spontaneous weekend getaways to explore new places. Her vibrant personality and passion for life promise to bring a positive impact to the Division and the community it serves. Absentee Ballot and Petition Manager Hyun Jun Jang is a graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he earned a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Communications. He brings a strong background in research, data analysis, and leadership to his role with the Division of Elections. From 2014 to 2024, he served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, where he supported medical operations, mentored junior personnel, and coordinated health and career development programs. His military experience enhanced his skills in team building, communication, and project planning in both clinical and administrative settings. Additionally, he has contributed to policy research on energy and public health issues affecting rural Alaskan communities.
