Alaska Division of Elections receives notice of Alaskan Independence Party dissolution January 14, 2026In accordance with established procedures, the Division of Elections (DOE) has acknowledged the dissolution of the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP). This acknowledgment follows a notice received in December from the AIP Chairman, confirming that the AIP Board voted to dissolve the party. In the coming weeks, the DOE will inform the voters registered as affiliated with the AIP that the party is no longer recognized. These voters will have the option to select a new party or group affiliation if they wish. If they do not update their registration—by phone, email, in person, or through the online form—within 30 days of receipt, the Division plans to change their registration status to “undeclared.” Voters can update their affiliation using the online portal: ALASKA – Online Voter Registration or go to Voter Information – Division of Elections. Voters can also check their registration status at :Voter Information Lookup – Division of Elections Media Contact: Steve Kirch, stephen.kirch@alaska.gov
