To submit your declaration of candidacy, complete the following steps: Ensure you meet the qualifications for office.File appropriate Financial Disclosure Candidates for U.S. Senator or U.S. Representative must contact the Federal Election Commission for campaign reporting requirements. These candidates are not subject to the Alaska Public Offices Commission requirements. AS 15.25.030(b), AS 15.25.030(c), AS 39.50.Incumbent candidates for State Senate, State Representative, Governor or Lieutenant Governor must file a Legislative Financial Disclosure Statement with Alaska Public Offices Commission (APOC).Non-incumbent candidates for State Senate, State Representative, Governor or Lieutenant Governor must to file a Public Official’s Financial Disclosure Statement with APOC.Judicial retention candidates must file a Public Official’s Financial Disclosure Statement with APOC. Candidate Eligibility Complaint Information Legal References In accordance with Alaska Statute 15.25. and Title 6 Alaska Administrative Code 25.260, a person may question the eligibility of a candidate who has filed a Declaration of Candidacy or Nominating Petition with the Division of Elections for any statewide or district-wide office by filing a complaint with the Director of Elections. It must include a statement in 200 words or less of the grounds for why the candidate’s eligibility is being questioned.It must be in writing and include the name, mailing address, contact number and signature of the person making the complaint.It must be filed no later than the 10th day after the filing deadline.
