College Voters
Register to Vote
- As an Alaska resident attending college within Alaska or outside of Alaska, you may register to vote in Alaska and vote at your polling place or by absentee ballot.
Where to Vote

Vote at your polling place on Election Day.

Vote an early or absentee in person ballot at an absentee voting location beginning 15 days prior to Election Day.

Apply for an absentee by mail ballot to be mailed to you approximately 25 days prior to Election Day.

Apply for an absentee by electionic transmission ballot to be sent to you beginning 15 days prior to Election Day.
Residency Requirements

For voting purposes, you are considered an Alaska resident if you reside in the state and intend to remain here or you leave with the intent to return.

When registering to vote, updating your registration, or when applying for an absentee ballot while you are outside of Alaska, you may use your last residence address that you resided at prior to leaving Alaska.

- If you are attending college in Alaska, but are a resident of another state and wish to remain a resident of that state, contact the election official in your home state for information about voter qualifications and the procedures for voting absentee in your home state. You may visit the National Association of Secretaries of State or the Election Assistance Commission for information.
