all alaskan voters have the opportunity to vote to retain supreme court justices.

by law, voters are allowed to decide if judges should be retained. each judge in alaska is subject to a retention
election after a certain number of years on the bench. the number of years between retention elections depends
upon the court in which the judge sits.

     supreme court: 10 years
     court of appeals: 8 years
     superior court: 6 years
     district court: 4 years
