10/01/02 - HAINES BOROUGH ELECTION - 2250 registered voters; 1074 ballots counted; 47% turnout;
Note: The Haines area is not unincorporated, but AS 29.06.140 instructs the Division of Elections to conduct the election when two incorporated areas are seeking consolidation.
- As a result of the consolidation of the city of Haines and the Haines Borough into a new home rule borough known as the Haines Borough, seven school board memebers, six assembly members and one mayor were elected.
08/06/02 - REAA 8 SPECIAL ELECTION RESULTS - 447 registered voters; 78 ballots counted; 17% turnout;
- Question: Shall the method of nominating candidates for the Aleutian Region
School District (REAA #8) be changed from nominating by section to
nominating at large?"
- Results: The question did not pass: YES = 25 -- -- NO = 53
NOTE: A recount was held for the REAA 8 Special Election on September 11, 2002. The results stayed the same.
06/25/02 - HAINES CONSOLIDATION ELECTION - 2217 registered Voters; 1182 ballots counted, 54% turnout

- Question: Shall the city of Haines and the Haines Borough be
consolidated as a new home rule borough known as the
Haines Borough?
- Results: The question passed: YES = 658 -- -- NO = 524
03/19/02 - TALKEETNA INCORPORATION ELECTION - 697 registered voters; 392 ballots counted, 56% turnout. (election conducted by mail)
- Question: Shall Talkeetna be incorporated as a Home Rule City?
- Results: The question failed: Yes - 91; No - 297
02/19/02 - REAA #6 SOUTHWEST REGION SCHOOL
DISTRICT RECALL ELECTION - 1,291 registered voters;
275 ballots counted, 21% turnout. (election conducted by mail)
- Results: Three board members were recalled.
The following are results of local option elections conducted in 2001
by the Division of Elections in unincorporated areas of the state.
08/28/01 - FAIRBANKS CONSOLIDATION ELECTION - 67,325 registered voters; 16,149 ballots counted, 24% turnout (election conducted by mail)

- Question: Shall the City of Fairbanks and the Fairbanks North Star Borough be consolidated as the Municipality of Fairbanks, a new second class borough?
- Results: The question failed: Yes - 3,521; No - 12,519
8/7/01 - AKIACHAK LIQUOR OPTION ELECTION - 258 registered voters; 54 ballots counted, 21% turnout (election conducted by mail)
- Question: Shall the Village of Akiachak adopt a local option to prohibit the sale, importation and possession of alcoholic beverages?
- Results: The question passed: Yes - 40; No - 13
7/17/01 - KETCHIKAN CONSOLIDATION ELECTION - 9,850 registered voters; 3,915 ballots counted, 39.75% turnout (election conducted by mail)

- Ballot Measure #1: Shall the existing Home Rule City of Ketchikan and the existing Second Class Ketchikan Gateway Borough be consolidated as the new Home Rule Municipality of Ketchikan?
- Results: The question failed: Yes - 1,642; No - 2,273
4/3/01 - ADAK INCORPORATION ELECTION - 435 registered voters; 74 ballots counted, 17% turnout (election conducted by mail for only current residents)
- Ballot Measure #1: Shall Adak incorporate as a second class city?
- Results: The question passed: Yes - 61; No - 6
- Ballot Measure #2: Shall the City of Adak be authorized to levy a 3% sales tax?

4/20/99 - REAA 12, YUKON-KOYUKUK SPECIAL BY-MAIL ELECTION TO VOTE AT LARGE - 1,523 registered voters; 313 ballots counted, 21% turnout
- Question: Shall the election procedures for electing board members in the Yukon-Koyukuk School district be changed to electing school board members at large?
- Results: The question failed. Yes - 111; No - 199

11/3/98 - HAINES CONSOLIDATION ELECTION - 2,129 registered voters; 955 ballots counted; 45% turnout

- Results: The question failed: Yes - 542; No - 545
3/17/98 - REAA 12, YUKON-KOYUKUK SPECIAL BY-MAIL ELECTION TO VOTE BY SECTION - 1,532 registered voters; 402 ballots counted, 26% turnout
- Question: Shall the election procedures for electing board members in the Yukon-Koyukuk School District be changed to electing school board members by section?
- Results: The question passed: Yes - 224; No - 174
1/13/98 - NANWALEK / ENGLISH BAY BY-MAIL LIQUOR OPTION ELECTION - 100 registered voters; 79 ballots counted, 79% turnout
- Question: Shall the Village of Nanwalek / English Bay change the local option currently in effect that prohibits the sale, importation and possession of alcoholic beverages and adopt in its place a local option to prohibit only the sale of alcoholic beverages?
- Results: The question passed: Yes - 47; No - 29

- Results: The question passed: Yes - 17; No - 3

12/10/96 - NANWALEK (ENGLISH BAY) BY-MAIL LIQUOR OPTION ELECTION - 92 registered voters; 53 ballots counted, 58% turnout
- Question: Shall the village of Nanwalek (English Bay) adopt a local option to prohibit the sale, importation and possession of alcoholic beverages?
- Results: The question passed: Yes - 27; No - 26
11/5/96 - AKIAK DISSOLUTION ELECTION - 121 registered voters; 95 ballots counted, 79% turnout (conducted in person in conjunction with the General Election)
- Question 1: Shall the City of Akiak be dissolved?
- Results: The question failed: Yes - 41; No - 54 (The question must pass with 50% of the registered voters voting "yes." Since 61 voters did not vote "yes," the City of Akiak was not dissolved.
4/23/96 - KONGIGANEK BY-MAIL LIQUOR OPTION ELECTION - 149 registered voters; 56 ballots counted, 38% turnout
- Question: Shall Kongiganek change the local option currently in effect that prohibits the importation and sale of alcohol, and adopt in its place a local option to prohibit the sale, importation and possession of alcohol?
- Results: The question passed: Yes - 41; No - 10
3/26/96 - NAUKATI BY-MAIL LIQUOR OPTION ELECTION - 118 registered voters; 44 ballots counted, 37% turnout
