Write-In Candidate Information

Write-in Candidate information for the 2008 Wrangell Incorporation Election

Candidates who did not file or were not certified for the 2008 City and Borough of Wrangell Incorporation election ballot may wish to run as a write-in candidate.

A write-in candidate shall be a qualified voter of the proposed Wrangell borough and a resident of the area within the proposed Wrangell borough for at least one year preceding the election.

Information regarding a write-in candidate may not be discussed, exhibited, or provided at the polling place, or within 200 feet of any entrance to the polling place on Election Day.

Voters who choose to write in the name of a candidate, whose name does not appear on the ballot, may do so in the space provided on the ballot. In order for the write-in vote to be counted, the voter must also fill in the oval next to the name of the candidate.

Instructions on how to vote for a write-in candidate will be included with the ballot that will be mailed to each eligible voter on April 14, 2008. Additionally, instructions for indicating a write-in choice will be posted in the absentee voting location. If the instructions are not understood, the voter may ask an election official for assistance.

Counting of write-in votes
Separation and counting of write-in votes will take place during the State Review Board process.
