STATEMENT:

It has been an honor to represent the voters of the Mat-Su Borough and work to improve life in Alaska. I will continue to be fiscally responsible, involve myself with only those things that government should be involved in and stand up for the rights of the individual instead of the bureaucracy and in favor of the state instead of the federal government. As a conservative I will continue to vote in favor of those traditions and values that are so dear to the majority of our citizens.

In my four years in the legislature, it has been my privilege to be involved in the sponsorship of welfare reform, concealed carry reform, state park access, agriculture land covenants, student loan increases, and birth certificates for foreign-born adoptees. I also worked on the school construction bonding program, crime reform package, education reform, charter school legislation, private airport and rifle range protection, land disposal and deposits to the permanent fund.

Protection of the permanent fund is critical for the future of this state. I will continue to attempt to require a vote of the people before the permanent fund can be spent for general fund or capital purposes. I will not be supporting any new taxes as long as there are ways to run our state more efficiently. Let's continue to be in the majority organization and have a strong voice in Juneau. Let's continue the work we've begun. Thanks for your support.
