STATEMENT:

I'm proud to have served Juneau in the House and on the Assembly. I'm running for Senate because I understand Juneau's past, have a vision for Juneau's future, and have experience to make the vision reality.

I grew up in Juneau and my childhood dreams of home, family, and good jobs were fulfilled as Juneau prospered. Our children deserve those same opportunities.

If I'm privileged enough to serve as your senator, my priorities remain:

Education: I worked with the Governor to deliver more school dollars for Juneau and build the UAS dorms. As your senator, education will remain my top priority so future graduates of JDHS and UAS have opportunities I had 30 years ago.

Protecting the Permanent Fund: Our savings accounts are valuable assets and dividends are our best economic stimulus package. As your senator, I'll protect the fund and your dividend.

Jobs that support families: We must maintain public employment while creating jobs in tourism, fisheries, and minerals.

Maintaining the Capitol: Through efforts like "Gavel to Gavel," we're keeping Alaskans in touch with Juneau. In the House, I helped smother capitol move bills. As your senator, I'll maintain relationships I've built with other Alaskans and continue fighting capitol movers.

Responsible budgeting: We must protect education, public safety, resource management, and health programs while ensuring our spending fits our income.

Enhancing Juneau: We prosper when Juneau is the kind of place families want to live. Affordable housing, senior programs, arts, recreation, and a safe environment are imperative.
