STATEMENT:

It is an honor to serve as a judge and be entrusted with the important responsibility of providing a fair and prompt resolution to legal disputes. After nearly eight years as a district court judge, I continue to find the work challenging and rewarding. As the only district court judge on the Kenai Peninsula, I have handled a wide variety of civil, criminal, and domestic relations cases in the Homer, Kenai, and Seward courts.

I believe that our justice system should be both accessible and responsive to the community. To that end, I have helped to develop forms which can be used by people without attorneys for such routine legal matters as landlord and tenant disputes and domestic violence cases. I strive to uphold the law and to decide cases quickly, fairly, and in a manner that makes sense to the people involved.

I am grateful for the positive recommendation of the Alaska Judicial Council and for the favorable evaluation of my performance as a judge by the members of the Alaska Bar Association, the Alaska Police and Probation Officers, the court employees, and the jurors who have served in trials in my court. I hope to continue to serve the people of Alaska to the best of my abilities as a district court judge in Homer.
