The voters of District 22 have honored me by consistently
choosing me to be their representative in Juneau. Constituents
have often expressed appreciation of my work to ensure that
our great state remains a good place for all of us to live.
I would like to continue the work I have begun.
Alaska's leadership must provide appropriate forward thinking to ensure Alaska's future. Of particular concern now is the low price of oil even though it does not represent the catastrophe it would have been several years ago, thanks to the Constitutional Budget Reserve Fund. The Fund is an example of how forward thinking affects and provides for the future.
Over the past several years I have worked hard to achieve a great many things which also provided jobs for Alaskans. Taken together, these projects have enriched the state dramatically. They include many local road projects, school projects, the under-construction Alaska Seafood Center, the Northstar contract with BP, establishing the oil module fabrication industry in Alaska, the Northern and Southern electric interties, the Anchorage Police Headquarters Building, the Police Training Facility, the State Crime Lab, the Nesbett Court Building and numerous others. While it's not under construction yet, I have at least managed to ensure the multi-billion dollar North Slope natural gasline/LNG project is to be seriously considered by the leaseholders and others. I believe such forward thinking is essential if Alaska is to step with confidence into the 21st Century.
