STATEMENT:

"CANDIDATES SHOULD BE JUDGED, NOT ON THE PROMISES THEY MAKE, BUT ON THE PROMISES THEY KEEP."

ERIC CROFT

In the last election, I pledged to work to prevent crime, open government to the people, make rational budget decisions, and diversify Alaska's economy.

I HAVE KEPT MY WORD TO YOU.

I wrote and introduced legislation to help local communities shut down crack houses and to strengthen our domestic violence and stalking laws. I co-sponsored and helped pass into law over ten pieces of crime prevention legislation including laws on victims' rights, truth in sentencing, drive-by shootings, and sex offender registration. I wrote and co-sponsored legislation with Rep. Dyson to enable private citizens to prosecute scam artists while protecting legitimate businesses.

I wrote and implemented guidelines for open meetings of my legislative caucus to comply with the legislative ethics law and conduct the people's business in public. I was the only legislator to introduce the term limits legislation mandated by the 1996 citizen initiative.

Throughout the budget process, I worked to hold the line on government spending while continuing to fund key programs. I voted to deposit $575 million into the permanent fund.

I supported and helped pass legislative initiatives to expand the Anchorage Airport and increase business incentive programs to promote local Alaskan startup businesses. I was a strong supporter of our growing tourism industry.

I would appreciate your support on November 3rd.
