Notice of Election of the Proposal to Incorporate the Deltana Borough
Information for Voters


Election Day is Tuesday, August 21, 2007

This Election Will Be Conducted By Mail
There will be no polling place on election day.

• YOU WILL BE VOTING ON THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:
  
  Ballot Measures
  1. Shall the Deltana Borough be incorporated as a unified municipality? (Under AS 29.05.140(d), incorporation of the Deltana Borough will result in the concurrent dissolution of the existing City of Delta Junction.)
  
  2. Do voters of the proposed Deltana Borough hereby ratify the “Agreement for Payment in Lieu of Taxes” between the City of Delta Junction and Teck-Pogo, Inc., included as Exhibit K of the Petition; and shall the Deltana Borough be authorized to levy a 3 percent home heating fuel and vehicle gas sales tax and a 10 percent tax on the sale of electrical power? Approval of this proposition is a condition for incorporation; i.e., voters must approve this proposition for incorporation to occur.
  
  3. If a majority of votes are cast in favor of the incorporation of the Deltana Borough, the Deltana Borough will be served by a mayor and seven borough assembly members, all elected at large.
  
  

• TO VOTE:
  Ballots will be mailed on Monday, July 30, 2007. The ballots will be mailed to the mailing address on your voter record. If your mailing address has changed or if you will not be at your mailing address, contact the Region III Elections Office at (907) 451-2835.

  The ballots WILL NOT FORWARD. If your mail will be forwarded during this time, contact the Region III Elections Office at (907) 451-2835.

  For your ballot to be counted, you must:
  1. Sign the return ballot envelope.
  2. Provide at least one identifier on the return ballot envelope.
  3. Have your signature witnessed. Ask one person over the age of 18 or the postmaster or election official to be your witness.
  4. Ballots must be voted and postmarked on or before Election Day, August 21, 2007.

An election official will have ballots and will be available for absentee in-person voting and assistance in the Delta Magistrates office weekdays from 8:00am - 4:30pm beginning Monday August 6th through Tuesday, August 21, 2007. Absentee voting and other assistance will also be available at the Fairbanks, Anchorage, Juneau, Nome, Kenai and Mat-Su election offices.
