POSITION STATEMENT:

I am running as an Independent to represent the people of Eagle River, Hiland Road and Muldoon because, like many of my neighbors, I am not happy with what’s been going on in Juneau. I am running as an Independent because I want to eliminate the extreme partisan gridlock in state government. We can do a better job of working together for Alaska. I’m also concerned that the incumbent begins this campaign with a large campaign fund, raised primarily from special interests. Fortunately a new law will make similar fundraising unlawful after this year.

I am committed to work hard to address the real problems facing our state. My professional background with the military, as an educator, and my long community involvement has prepared me to arrive at realistic solutions to tackle the tough problems:

RESPONSIBLE SPENDING: Budget realistically, prioritize and trim waste.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Private industry and government can promote wiser use of Alaska’s natural resources, increased job opportunities and training for Alaskans who are willing to work.

CONTROLLING CRIME: We must be tougher on career criminals. I support early intervention to turn around troubled youth.

EDUCATION: Anchorage area schools have not received equitable funding with rural schools. I’ll work hard for our fair share.

The special interests are already well represented in our state capital. If you believe as I do that your representative should work in the best interest of the people of District 24, not the lobbyists and special interests, I would appreciate your vote.
